Police arrested a Camden County NJ corrections officer accused of downloading child pornography.
The suspect is a 28-year-old resident of Atco, which is part of Waterford Township in Camden County, New Jersey. According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was caught possessing images and videos of juveniles engaging in sexual acts.
Police received a tip about the suspect downloading and uploading child pornography. Once investigators had enough evidence, they got search warrants and subsequently seized the suspect’s cell phone and computer.
Detectives allegedly found child pornography on the suspect’s electronic devices. He was then placed under arrest and charged with multiple sexual offenses, including possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography.
If the suspect is ultimately convicted on the child pornography charges, he could wind up behind bars in NJ State Prison for a very long time. Additionally, the suspect could be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law after completing his sentence.
While the sex crime charges against the suspect are pending, he has been suspended without pay from his position as a Camden County corrections officer. If he is convicted or pleads guilty to the child pornography charges, he would likely be fired.
