Law enforcement recently captured a man accused of committing a fatal shooting on a street in Camden, NJ.
The shooting incident occurred just before 3:00 a.m. According to Camden officials, the suspect approached two people on the 1200 block of Whitman Avenue in Camden New Jersey and used a handgun to shoot both of them.
The Camden County Police Department got word of a ShotSpotter activation alert and dispatched Camden County cops to the area. When police officers arrived at the scene of the shooting, they saw the two victims lying on the pavement.
The victims were transported to nearby Cooper University Hospital, where doctors provided them with urgent medical care. One of the victims, a 57-year-old man from Camden, was pronounced dead at the medical facility. The other victim, a 32-year-old Camden NJ male, was treated and then listed in stable condition.
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Camden County Police Department investigated the double shooting and identified a 29-year-old male as the suspect. Members of the U.S. Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force later tracked down the suspect and placed him under arrest.
The suspect faces numerous criminal charges, including first degree murder, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was remanded to the Camden County Jail. He was being held at the correctional facility on a massive $3 million bail amount.
