A Camden County grand jury recently indicted two men on murder charges stemming from a fatal shooting in Camden, New Jersey.
The two suspects, a 19-year-old Camden male and a 25-year-old Camden male, allegedly committed the murder in August 2013.
According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects shot and killed a 19-year-old Camden man during a botched robbery attempt.
The victim was the driver of a 1986 Honda Civic, while the suspects were allegedly passengers in the vehicle. When police officers discovered the victim, he was sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The car had crashed into a fence near Louis Street and Atlantic Avenue in Camden, NJ.
The suspects were later identified and placed under arrest. They were subsequently charged with several crimes, including first degree murder, felony murder, conspiracy to commit murder, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a weapon. One of the suspects also faces charges for a certain persons offense because he was allegedly a felon barred from possessing a handgun under any circumstances.
Now the suspects will head to trial in the murder case after being indicted by a Camden County grand jury.
The teenage suspect will be subject to adult charges, as well as adult penalties, because his case was waived from Camden juvenile court to Camden County Superior Court.
