Camden New Jersey Homicide AttorneysCamden NJ police are looking into a fatal shooting on a city street.

The homicide reportedly occurred around 10:35 p.m. on the 1700 block of South 9th Street in Camden, New Jersey.

Camden County Metro Police were notified of the shooting by a “shot spotter” activation near Branch Village in Camden NJ.

Camden NJ police went to the scene and saw a car with bullet holes. Police also discovered several shell casings on the street. However, police did not encounter any victims.

Camden officers canvassed the area in search of victims or a suspect and eventually found the victim, a 29-year-old male. According to Camden County prosecutors, the victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to nearby Cooper University Hospital, where doctors attempted to help him. Tragically, doctors were unable to save the victim; he was pronounced dead roughly one hour after the shooting.

Camden County police is actively investigating the homicide. At this time, investigators have yet to identify a suspect in the killing.

If investigators eventually identify and apprehend a suspect, the culprit would probably face charges for murder. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3, murder is a first degree felony that carries a potential punishment of life imprisonment, with a minimum mandatory term of incarceration of 30 years in NJ State Prison.
