Lindenwold NJ police are investigating a shooting in the parking lot of a local apartment complex.
According to authorities, the shooting happened in the parking lot of the Woodland Village apartment building in Lindenwold, NJ. The shooting occurred shortly after 1 a.m.
The Lindenwold Police Department got a report of gunshots fired on the 400 block of East Gibbsboro Road in Lindenwold, New Jersey. When police arrived in the area, they found the victim, a 34-year-old Lindenwold man, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical responders transported the victim to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where doctors treated him for his injuries. Sometime later, he was listed in critical condition.
Lindenwold NJ police are actively investigating the incident. Witnesses informed police that they observed a man fleeing the scene of the shooting. The suspect has been described as a black male wearing a black shirt with long white sleeves and a black hat on his head.
If police can eventually identify and capture the suspect, he would be subject to significant penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1(b), aggravated assault can potentially be classified as a second degree crime. A conviction on second degree aggravated assault charges could result in a sentence of 5-10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
