Police are searching for a man accused of committing an armed robbery at a CVS Pharmacy in Woolwich Township, NJ.
The Woolwich Township Police Department got a call about an armed robbery at the CVS pharmacy on Center Square Road in Woolwich Township, New Jersey. The robbery took place not long after 11 p.m.
When police officers arrived at the store, they spoke with store workers who had been present for the robbery. CVS employees told police that a white male walked into the store, grabbed a female customer, and held her hostage.
The suspect allegedly told a store employee that he would shoot and kill the hostage if the workers did not give him the store’s supply of oxycodone. Once the suspect got the oxycodone, he exited the store and fled the area on foot.
Before he left, the suspect reportedly attempted to steal the hostage’s car; however, he abandoned the attempt after he failed to get her car keys.
According to witnesses at the scene, the suspect wore heavily layered clothing and carried a crowbar during the robbery attempt.
Thankfully, none of the employees at the store were injured during the theft incident.
Woolwich Township police searched the area for the suspect, but they did not find him.
Investigators believe that the same suspect committed similar armed robberies at a Rite Aid in Haddonfield NJ a week earlier and at a Rite Aid in Logan Township NJ in May. The suspect allegedly took prescription pain medication in all three robberies.
When the suspect allegedly robbed the Logan Township pharmacy, he was armed with a knife. During the Haddonfield robbery, the suspect allegedly brandished a handgun and also committed a carjacking.
Police departments in Woolwich Township, Logan Township, and Haddonfield are currently working together on the investigation. The local police departments are being assisted by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
Law enforcement recently released images of the suspect that were taken from store surveillance cameras. In all three robberies, the suspect wore odd clothing. During the Logan Township robbery, he reportedly wore yellow safety goggles and a yellow traffic vest; in the Haddonfield NJ theft, he wore a yellow rain coat and a white hard hat; during the Woolwich NJ robbery, he wore a reflective yellow vest.
Woolwich police have asked for the public’s help in the investigation. Anyone who has information about the CVS robbery or the suspect should get in touch with Woolwich investigators at 856-467-1667.
Additionally, Rite Aid has offered a $5,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest in the Haddonfield robbery.
